Today we commemorate International Women’s Day by reflecting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Also known as the 2030 Agenda, this initiative consists of 17 interconnected goals set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, aimed at steering the world toward a more prosperous and sustainable future. The target is to achieve these goals by the year 2030.
On this special occasion, we place a strong focus on Goal 5, which aims to promote gender equality and empower all women and girls. This goal is crucial not only for social progress but also for achieving comprehensive sustainability.
GENDER EQUALITY IN THE DENTAL SECTOR
Interestingly, the dental sector reflects a remarkable shift in this area, with the number of women increasing significantly over the past decades. In some countries, women now represent over 50% of new dental graduates—an encouraging sign of progress in gender equality within a traditionally male-dominated profession.
This transformation not only mirrors broader social progress but also highlights the vital role women play in advancing dental care, ensuring more inclusive and empathetic services.
With 2030 as our goal, and based on the latest report from the World Economic Forum, we have already achieved 68% of our target. This progress goes beyond being a matter of human rights—it also brings significant advantages to the business world.
BREAKING GLASS CEILINGS
